Caught Out by the Tide

Today we decided to take a walk down the Hamble River to Warsash for lunch.   The first setback was to find that Fareham Council had decided to increase their income by introducing parking charges at the small car park near the A27.   The second setback was to walk only about half a mile before being defeated by the extra high tide that had completely flooded the footpath.    We weren't of course alone in having to retreat - not a Wellington Boot in sight !    The third setback was to find that the footpath along the north side of the Hamble had gone altogether since we were last there about three years ago.
Luckily the morning was saved by coming across The Boat House Cafe in Swanwick Marina where we were able to sit out on the terrace, have a delicious nicely presented lunch washed down with a glass of wine (for me anyway).
