Old Kirkyard of St Cuthbert

Today's the day ........................ for gravestones

I've spent a fair bit of time already in the Old Kirkyard of St Cuthbert in Kirkcudbright but today I had the chance to tag along with a U3A group that were having a proper guided tour - which was too good an opportunity to miss.

I've mainly been looking for graves of previous owners of our house in the past - but there have always been headstones that have caught the eye and demanded to be read.  Like the grave of Billy Marshall, King of the Tinkers  or the Covenanter John Hallume.  So it was very good to discover more of the many interesting stories of people buried in this ancient graveyard. 

The tour was led by Don and Mo - in a very interesting and informed way.  Thanks very much to both ......................
