I managed to grab a quick visit to Audley End today, specifically to visit one of most wonderful places on the planet - the walled kitchen garden. I haven’t been in this garden since before Lockdown 1 and there are quite a few exciting changes happening. The gardeners have ditched some of the labour-intensive veg plots in favour of more apple and pear trees, herb beds and wildflower patches, it’s fabulous even at this straggly time of year. Today’s blip is one idea I’m pinching - a succulent wall made of an old woodwormy pallet. The soil is held in place by a sheet of what looks like wadding, stapled into place. Genius!
