A Heavy Load

Once upon a time, a long long time ago, North Berwick was lawless. It was so bad that people shunned the place.

Then the earth was moved to create this prominent hill and The Law* was established.  People flocked from miles around to admire the panoramic views from the summit.

It is said that during the 'Great Flood' a whale was stranded on the summit and its jawbone can be seen there to this day**.

Now it would appear that someone is trying to remove the law by sea.

* In this part of Scotland, a prominent hill, particularly a conical one, is known as a 'law'.

** The whale jawbone actually rotted away and was replaced with a fibreglass replica in 2008.
