Friday 8th October

More 'TravelswithMatilda', this time in a field near Harrogate. We arrived late yesterday afternoon and met up with our friends K&C and 'Gem', Gem (dog) particularly pleased to see us again.

We've had a fabulous day today starting in Harrogate then train to York where we walked for miles, but starting with coffee in the garden at 'Sophie's' beside the Lendal Bridge, lots of people watching from there. A ride on the hop on, hop off bus, a River cruise then lunch in one of the oldest pubs in York. Mr HB & C went to the Railway Museum whilst K. Gem and I explored the Shambles, the Minster, the walls and many other areas as well. Back on the train to Harrogate, pub for an aperitif followed by dinner in a super pie restaurant.

All in all a really super day. Beautiful weather, a wonderful city, lots of lovely people around and Gem was his usual charming and well behaved self.

Hope to explore more of Harrogate as my Mum went to the the Ladies' College there followed by Art college - over 100 years ago. Harrogate must have been very different then.
