Birthday cupcakes

It was Z's birthday yesterday, but she was fully occupied with work and friends.  So this evening R made her a lovely birthday tea.  She chose macaroni cheese as the main course, and requested coffee and walnut for the cake.

We had arranged to meet her after lunch to go to a garden centre to get some stuff for her balcony.  Prior to that, I walked in to Pildammsparken with R and G and the boys, and who should we find there but Z and S at a dog training class with Marmite.  After a very messy lunch of Bao buns, we all walked back to R's house, then W and I took Z and S to Plantagen.

We were disappointed that we were unable to buy a ready planted trough for winter colour, such as are readily found in all UK garden centres, but we found plants and shrubs that they will be able to plant up in a container.

We dropped the stuff at Z's flat, then returned to R's house, where a very excitable Robin had hidden some of her presents.  After she had found them and opened them, they had a few computer games together before dinner.

Once we were all replete, and the boys were in bed, the girls and I introduced all our respective partners to a card game that seems to have been very specifically a Shaw family game.  It's a variation on Rummy, called in our family Rummy Rummy, and I've no idea who invented it.  I've never come across it outside our family.
