That One Tree

in the morning light.

We were already cycling at 8 o'clock. In the valley above our village a blanket of fog and in front of us an orange rising sun. I wore all the clothes I had on a normal holiday bicycle ride. The thermometer pointed 8 degrees below the fog, but on top of the plain it was probably around freezing.

The route mapped out by Bert took us to the Worm River, which we followed to where it meets the Roer River. The Worm starts in Aachen and meets the Roer in Roermond. From Roermond we cycled to the nature reserve Leudal. It was a beautiful cycling route and also beautiful weather.

We had agreed to sleep with 'friends on a bicycle', hosts who provide a bed and breakfast for members of the association, which we have recently become.
The wood-burning stove was stoked nice and warm by our host.
