Crossroads

The world's first traffic light was a manually operated gas-lit signal installed in London in December 1868. It exploded less than a month after it was implemented, injuring its policeman operator.

Haven't we come a long way since then :-)

We've been on a lovely walk to Hampnett with some friends this afternoon. They came back to our house afterwards and became our first guests to have a cuppa under our new veranda. Before we set out I looked at a list of 19th century inventions in the hope of getting something for my blip. Traffic lights stuck in my mind as I knew we would be passing these at the crossroads.

In the morning our painter managed to get two coats of red on the bedroom walls. It looks really good, though they are going to need at least one, maybe two more coats. Our friends had a quick look and approved.
