Wicked Webs

There are literally hundreds of these spiders and their nests around Tam Dao at the moment. In some spots the ground is almost blanketed by them. Not a great place to be if you get a bit squeamish over the 8 legged critters! I only got off my bike to get a shot of the web and realised the spider in this one was in perfect view. I'm wondering if its some sort of funnel web spider? In all of the webs there is a central, well rounded hole (funnel!) that leads into the ground. I really wish my macro had arrived now!

Whilst trying to google Funnel Webs of Vietnam I came across this kiwi's blog on spiders of Vietnam... hope I don't come across some of these anytime soon!
