Bearded Tit

Despite its name, the Bearded Tit is not really a member of the Tit family and is more closely related to the Babblers and Parrotbills of Asia than the Tits.  They are only found in a few locations as they are dependent on extensive reedbeds.  They are not easy to spot in the reeds but do come into the open to take grit if put out for them on flat tables.  We are lucky to have some nearby at Leighton Moss as they are a delight to watch.
