End of an era

I had intended blipping a Glasgow institution called the Horseshoe Bar but on my way up West Nile Street I came upon this scene of demolition. It was the old Odeon Cinema whose entrance lay at the corner of Renfield Street and West Regent Street.

This opened as a Paramount Cinema in 1934 with seats for 2,784 cinema goers and by the time it closed in 2005 it had nine screens. Despite competition from new complexes both within Glasgow and out of town it apparently remained popular and profitable until its demise.

Now it 's going and I can't seem to find out what the future plans are for the space.
