Island Bus Stop

Today we were on our way from Sanday, and since the ferry didn’t leave Kirkwall until nearly 5pm we decided to do a little exploring by bus. This took us to the famous Italian Chapel, built by Italian POW’s during the Second World War in 2 Nissan huts. It is rather remarkable, with concrete and paint being the only 2 mediums available, but made to look like wood and marble and with great frescos on the altar.
This was our bus stop.
