Lightening F53

Spent a fascinating time visiting the Dumfries Aviation Museum this morning, and the Dumfries Museum in the afternoon. We discovered this Lightening. It turns out it was the one that used to be outside Ferranti in Edinburgh, which is where I worked when we first came to Scotland more than thirty years ago. Walked past it every day. We're both in a worse state now!

At the Dumfries Museum we learnt about the local connection with Norway. Thousands stayed in the area when war was declared, before rejoining the fighting. As well as some great exhibits from neolithic to recent times, there were some tremendous contemporary art works, based on some of those exhibits.
