The Tennyson Stone

I walked alone today while the others went high up. I had a plan though. I walked to Dodd Wood where ospreys visit in the summer, and to Mirehouse and gardens, a place that Tennyson used to visit. It is beautifully situated next to Bassenthwaite Lake. The stone plinth was constructed in 1974 for the reading of Morte d ‘Arthur to the Tennyson Society at the place where it is thought Tennyson wrote most of the poem. Usually it is surrounded by water.I caught the bus back to Keswick.
