Alas poor tulips

I saw these Council chaps in the distance digging up and removing tulips that have finished flowering. Normally September would have been Tulip Time in Bowral, with 75,000 tulips planted in public gardens, open gardens and all sorts of events. This year was to be special, as it was Tulip Time’s sixtieth birthday. But we were in lockdown, so the visitors couldn’t come. The tulips had been planted and they still bloomed. You could see them on online in a ‘Virtual Tulip Time’ but that wasn’t the same thing at all. The saddest thing is the losses to local businesses and the local charities that lost fund raising opportunities.

This is the second year Tulip Time has been cancelled. Surely next year?
