Well, that was a surprise

We awoke this morning to find the wind howling and the rain bucketing down. Not very pleasant, but not so unusual for October in this neck of the woods.  A little later I looked out the window to see the rain had turned "thick". It was still rain, but a little lumpy, and falling in a strange way. Then the lumps went white and fell a little more slowly. Finally we had to admit; "It's snowing"! It didn't settle but for several hours it fell thickly. At one point the ground was coered in slush.
When it was falling heavily and the wind gusted to 18 mps (40mph) the world became a little surreal in the whirl of particles, and that what I tried to capture in the main blip.
The rowan berries held on to their tree and contrasted nicely with the snow flakes, as I hope can be seen in the extra.
Today I tagged "winter", for the first time since March.
