Life through the lens...

Comfort food.

Also an EB as I hadn’t taken any photos today’s.

Cottage pie and baked apple with mincemeat and custard.
All delicious and not a morsel left.

Listening to Radio 2 we learnt of the death yesterday of Alan Hawkshaw.
I know you are all saying, “ Who”?
He was an unsung musical hero.
You will certainly know of two of his compositions:
Grange Hill and Countdown.
He had a very wide and varied career. This included playing as a session musician on many albums including those by The Hollies, David Bowie and The Shadows.

Born in Leeds, he also founded the Alan Hawkshaw Foundation, which has supported young and underprivileged music students and media composers, to gain degrees and scholarships at both the Leeds Collage of Music and the National Film and Television School since 2003.
The royalties from his music will now go to support this.
I’m glad he was awarded a BEM in the 2021 Birthday Honours for Services to Music and Composing.

Thank you Radio 2 for the tribute today, and for playing those two theme tunes in his memory.
