Red Maple Done for this year

Other trees have their leaves on, many still green. This old maple right in front of my kitchen is finished. On 11th Oct, I blipped their 90% drop to the ground in one night. My garden friend, Matt,  raked and stuffed them into the compost bin ready to make new soil for next year.
It looks to me like the Catskills have peaked in their colours this past weekend. I have not been out enough yet to look closely. They are not very brilliant this season, probably because we had so much rain. Not sure.
Strange because the 'Rule of 3' here is after three frosts and we get Indian Summer. We have not even had one frost yet and we are well into October. Often we get snow in Oxford by Halloween-- must be a memorable experience for children growing up here and going out trick or treating wearing winter coats!
It will be interesting to watch how this unfolds during the Time of Climate Change and Corona... Never boring here on Planet Earth!
