Tiller

Today we borrowed a tiller to loosen the ground and to get rid of the roots.
A tiller is not a new invention, but was patented as a Rotavator in 1912 by the Australian Arthur Clifford Howard (1893-1971). The Rotavator from the early 20th century looked similar to today's motor hoe and used the hoe star with L-shaped knives for cultivating the soil. (*Stern)

We hurried very quickly to get ready before the coming rainy days. The sod puzzle is solved, the ground is flat and enriched with topsoil, the bed has been planted, the lawn edge has been laid and the grass is sown. We are very curious to see if it will still grow this fall. You can see the result in the extra. To be honest, we're very happy with it.
