A view from St Swithin

R V Jones

Its been a dull, dreich and very overcast day. One of the good things about having a dog is that it gets you out on miserable days although it did not feel like that when I was pulling on my wateproofs this afternoon.

I walk past this plaque most days on Rubislaw Terrace and was dimly aware that R V Jones was a scientist in the 2nd world war and was involved in radar technology.

I looked him up on wikipedia which gives a very good resume of his work in WW2 including the use of scientific deception and disinformation during the war.

He moved to Aberdeen after the war and was Professor of Natural Philosophy at the University until his retirement in 1981.
