Sunken Lane

Cockfield Lane is one of the old sunken lanes or holloways that runs through the parish. It has featured several times in my journal as it is often on my morning walk with the spaniel. I don't think I've photographed it at this point before. This is where the sunken lane follows the boundary between the Tunbridge Wells sandstone (on the northern/righthand side) and the Wealden clays. The dark, damp conditions make it a good place to look for fungi and slime moulds.
