An eventful walk

We had a lovely walk around Sherborne after lunch where this tree caught my eye.

At the halfway point in the walk, Ivy came running out of the woods and MrSk noticed she was bleeding and on closer inspection we found the blood was coming from a tear in her ear.  I tried to staunch it with a tissue but, being an ear, it bled and bled.  So we walked back to the car (Ivy still keen to explore anc chase squirrels!) and drove straight to our vet, having called them in advance.  It turns out she has a couple of little tears but most of the bleeding is coming from a torn blood vessel right on the edge of her ear - apparently there are lots of them all around the edges of dogs' ears.  They took her in to clean her up with a shower and gave her an antibiotic injection.  They tried to bandage it but weren't hopeful it would stay on her little head and, sure enough 30 minuites later, after we'd got home and after I'd taken the photo of her in extras, she'd managed to pull it down!  It bled a bit then but not too badly.  The vet told us to bring her back in tomorrow morning if it gets worse and continues to bleed, so fingers crossed we won't have to.  We thought she looked like the Queen wearing her headscarf!
