Shadows - don't cross the line

Circle of friends, I got these little friends in a store in Tijuana many many years ago. We looked at pottery etc and I discovered a little room in the back where they had the bargains I got this for a few dollars and I am still treasuring it since. Maybe this model wasn't perfect, but what is????
