Gingerbread House

This is one of the follies in Stourhead Gardens, Wiltshire, which were designed by Henry Hoare (as in Hoare's Bank) between 1741 and 1780. At this time of the year, the gardens are normally a carpet of daffodils with rhododendrons flowering, but there were only a few hardy daffodils open this cold grey afternoon. The male swan was patrolling the island in the lake and chasing off the geese, so he must be thinking about nesting...
