Workmen

We have had non-stop workmen today.  First the team of plumbers trying to discover (for the second time) why our central heating system keeps de-pressurising.  They have changed a few more parts and departed with their fingers crossed.

Then a clock case repairer who was returning a clock hood.  He had replaced the ugly 1950s glass with some beautiful late 18th century glass (where does he find it?).  Even that is 100 years younger than the longcase clock itself which dates from 1695.  It chimes the quarter hours as well as the hours which is why it has three barrels and eight bells.
