The Green Man

English Folklore is full of strangeness such as the idea of the green man, which I think is a pagan thing. This one is an uttering head, where leaves emerge from the mouth but there are apparently 4 types in total (I've only seen/noticed this type). You find a lot of them in a lot of very old British Churchyards (and naff garden centres), it's an unusual place to find them as I don't think they fit with a Judeao-christian philosophy.

This one can be found on a reasonably well know hotel, and it certainly stands out in the square in which it is located ;-) It was built in 1898, and the restaurant is said to be almost identical to the Titanic`s dining room.

But why does it have Green Men placed on it's walls around the main entrances? Perhaps a yearning that the hotel was in greener place? (although there is a garden planted opposite).
