Solitary Seal

It was blowing a hoolie this morning but undeterred Mrs CBL and I headed out for a walk along the shoreline.  The winter woollies were on and hats were firmly in place so we were well prepared but even so we could feel the windchill nipping at our cheeks.

As we emerged out of the sand dunes we saw this seal pup stranded beside the stream outlet.  Observed it from a safe distance.  It is not unusual to see one by itself as their mothers leave them when they have been weaned after three to four weeks old.  Nonetheless it is always sad to see them looking lost.
