Dandy Comic Book 1979

We spent a great afternoon in Shaftesbury admiring the magnificent view along with visiting Shaftesbury Abbey museum and gardens.

In c.888 King Alfred founded the Abbey which was the first community for nuns not to be connected with a male community, and it became model for other royal nunneries.  The king's daughter Aethelgifu was the first Abbess.  We also visited the town Museum which was well worth a visit and saw the famous Dorset buttons - My main shot is from the selection of comic annuals and posters displayed in the museum - certainly brought back memories for us how about you?

My blip today is in memory of Admirer
