On the Edge

Over many years I have waked on Dartmoor and taken numerous snaps of the rugged tors, bleak open moors and the huge skies. Most of these, it has to be said, have a certain monotony and sameness. I do though try now to look for shapes and patterns in the landscape, how the light and seasons change the nature of a scene and the interest that often lies in the detail. This afternoon walking on the open common near Clearbrook on the western edge of Dartmoor, the sun briefly illuminated the side of the meavy valley, revealing the small farms and hamlets that lay scattered across the land.
