Bright lights flashed as a photo was taken and a very loud voice boomed out "Warning your presence has been detected. The owner and police have been informed."   A man must have jumped in fright as he took his dog for its usual walk into a nearby field.
He had walked past one of the Armadillo Videoguards which have recently appeared in the field to guard heavy machinery in a compound. The Armadillos  have infrared sensors and if activated, will send an instant video message to the control centre where the incident is evaluated.  The need for full time security staff is removed as these are highly visible and have proved to deter thieves and vandals.  Their batteries can last for a long time so are ideal for vacant properties and locations where valuable building materials or machinery are kept especially on construction sites or in rural areas where “69% of farmers and rural-specific business owners have been a victim of crime over the past 12 months”

As Laurie54’s Mono Monday’s challenge is “Inventions” this very modern robotic watchman seemed ideal for a 21st century invention during a time when surveillance cameras have become commonplace.
