The Palace Theatre

We continued our exploration of the town centre today when we went looking for the Theatre, and Indian Restaurant.  We also went to the Library so that Rob could become a member.

We were pleased to find the theatre which was built in 1913 .  It has had a very mixed history as a venue for many different sorts of entertainment including films, dancing and skating as well as theatre.  With the development of the new town it was reinstated as a theatre and seems to be doing reasonably well although some more longstanding residents may be able to correct me on that.  We are looking forward to going there next year to see Jasper Carrott.  I had also been told that there is a good Indian Restaurant next to the theatre so we are hoping to get to try that some time soon.  The Library is under threat - moving to a different venue.  I don't know why.  We were quite impressed with it.

News on Dad - he has been deemed an appropriate patient for a time at rehabilitation to restore his mobility and sort out any other little problems .  We think that is a good idea and we hope that he does not have to wait too long for a bed to become available.  We took him a book and some goodies this afternoon - we just have to leave them at the entrance and someone takes them to him.  All very strange.
