The Cleveland Way is in retreat due to coastal erosion. There are many spots along the way where the path has been moved back and then moved back again. There are also many spots, like this one, where there is simply a sheer drop down to the North Sea.

If you run a line across from this point on the English Coast eastwards across to Europe you arrive in Northern Germany in area called Norden.
