Doodle #27 (Tuesday 26th October 2021)

I am a post-war baby but there was plenty of rationing going on while I was growing up in the fifties. Speculation as to what life would have been like had Hitler succeeded has increased as time has passed, and had obviously had an impact on me in 1967 when this doodle was created. Quite recently I watched the serialisation of The Man In The High Castle, based on Philip K Dick's 1962 novel.

This day marked six months since my second Covid jab, but I hadn't had a letter from the NHS. However from their site I discovered a walk-in site not far away in Lyneham where no appointment was needed if you qualified. It was open after lunch until 1800 hr and their own site had daily bar graphs showing the quietest times, which for this day was after 1700 hr.

Accordingly I formed a plan of action that included buying a new 5G phone and that would lead me to the pharmacy at around 1700 hr. This plan was achieved and when a booster had been agreed at reception I opted to have a flu jab at the same time.

Unfortunately, when it was my turn the pharmacist told me they stopped doing Covid jabs at 1700 hr and I would have to return another day. No wonder it was their quietest hour. Neither their site or the NHS site had mentioned this, and so I went away with the flu jab only. Do they not get this every day? Has anyone maybe not thought to put that information on their site?

Oh, die Leistungsfähigkeit ;-).
