Golden Plover

I went over to Shapinsay for a cycle...went  along to RSPB Mill Dam, which was quiet, then Vasa Loch, which had 8 whooper swans (extra), then to the Ouse and Lairo Water. The flock of golden plover rose to the west and was huge- anything between 750 and 1000 birds. The photo captures a tiny part. Also there- 2 goosanders (uncommon on Orkney), shovelers, wigeon, teal, heron, curlew, lapwings, dunlin, ringed plover, redshank, turnstone, greylags etc. A peregrine flew over the ferry slip later.
