Kinkaku-ji

According to the Lonely Planet, Kyoto's 'famed' Golden Pavillion' is one of Japan's best known sights. The original building was built in 1397 but rebuilt in 1955 after a monk burned it to the ground. It was busy today, with many families taking photos of each there in front of the lake.
We also Ryoanji Temple, which had a lovely zen garden.
After a late lunch, we caught another bus to Gion, where we visited Yasaka Shrine, Maryuama Park and Shimbashi. At all these places, cherry blossom viewing was in full swing. In the daytime, this is called hanami, and at night it's called yoza kura. I took some lovely photos of the blossom... so hard to choose a blip today!
