Blooming springtime

Flannel flowers are doing wonderfully well right now in the sandy coastal heathland at Red Rock. Although it looks like a daisy, technically it's not. Its botanic name is Actinotus helianthi. It grows in eastern NSW, mainly in coastal and nearby areas. These bushes were up to 1 metre high. I developed my love for Australian plants from my early years in Sydney, and have fond memories of massed displays of flannel flowers in the sandstone heathland around the city.
