It does have flowers, of a sort. Ancient jade plant, by the look of it, on a scraped house site. 

Day dominated by plumbers .. arranging for, waiting for, supervising. Extra is the misbehaving draining device; the machine drains into the sink on the right, the sink drains into the enclosed sump pump; the pump pushes the water up the pipe above it to the sewer line. This arrangement is the inevitable consequence of having the washing machine in the basement. 
We also had friends over for afternoon tea - plumbers still here. They were understanding, having had their own contractors run late ..
