Fountain

The weather was cooler today and there was clearly some rain whist we were having lunch as the streets were wet and slippery. As the weather was not great, Mrs P and I decided to visit one of the monuments famous in Valencia. This is the Porcelain Museum which is housed in a very opulent building near the centre. It was effectively a villa/palace built in the 15th century for the Marquis de Dos Aguas. Personally, the outside of the building is more impresssive than the inside. I'm sure it was the height of good taste at the time, but for me I found the rooms inside a bit gaudy though very lavish. It reminded me of the palace of Versailles which I visited many years ago and whose rooms i also found over the top.

As well as the museum, we also stumbled across a very good photographic exhibition documenting life in the 1930s during and after the Civil War and in particularly focusing on the role of women during this time. Valencia was used as a centre to look after the wounded but also responsible for looking after the many children whose families were caught up fighting on the front line.

Today's blip captures a fountain just outside the Porcelain Museum.
