Hallowe'en fun(gi)

Spooky fingers or creepy worms? You won't find these in the shops!

Smoky Spindles (Clavaria fumosa) have thrust up through the grass in the upland pastures. There's also an albino version (Clavaria fragilis) with more ghostly tentacles (extra).

Perfectly timed for the date but apart from a few hardy walkers in the wind and rain it's only sheep that get to see them.  Probably just as well as I suspect they might get stamped on if they caught the public eye: they're not the cutest forms of nature, harmless thought they are.
