Spooky in Wimborne

Woke up to 68mph gusts, howling wind, downpours. Could feel the block shaking (a bit).

More petrol to use up (selling car). Despite reports of trees down and flooding, decided we’d try coffee at Wimborne Coffee Roasters in Holt (35mn drive). Checked TA & FB. Said open Sunday10-4.

Headed out. Rain had stopped and wind calmed by then. Ended up in leafy country lanes, covered in debris’ to find the road to the Roasters ‘flooded’. The measurement gauge at the side (must flood regularly) was at the 1ft mark. A brave soul drove through. The rest U-turned back. Didn’t give in to Mr B’s taunts to drive on. Went back and took the longer way round, driving through another flooded stretch. Arrived and ‘Closed’ sign up. B****y annoying. Have messaged them, perhaps there’s a good excuse (the weather?), otherwise they should have updated social media.

The road to the right was completely blocked by a huge fallen tree. Fortunately we were directed left.

So, thought we’d try Pamphill Dairy, had loads of recommendations (including from ‘cassfoto’) - but didn’t want to eat, would have been booked up anyway. Hoped we could have coffee. Arrived to find ‘Closed due to Power Outage’. Lots of other disappointed customers (with reservations) turned up. Poor souls, especially if they celebrating.

So, back to Wimborne. Walked round. Had a coffee. Passed Petit Prince where, horrors, I spotted this ghost as I peered through the window (blipped).

Popped into the civilised Waitrose there.

Then back home, safe and dry.
