Strange goings on!

What a storm this morning! It was blowing a gale & the rain was thundering against the window .... thought it was trying to get inside!

Thankfully it did finally clear early afternoon! The sun came out & there was blue sky ...... hooray!

As it had turned out nice we got ready & headed out for a walk 'up the road'.

We had only just started walking when we saw a Kestrel being harassed by some gulls ....... soon after that we saw the Great-spotted Woodpecker in its favourite tree ...... in the hedgerow nearby we saw a pair of Wrens ....... a pretty good start :-)

Further along we noticed these leaves hanging on the wire ...... didn't realise until I got it on the computer that they weren't actually hanging over but seemed to be stuck on! Spooky!  Maybe it's something to do with it being Halloween!

The image is fairly heavily cropped so that hopefully you can see that!

As we neared the 'end' of the road (it then becomes a private road to a farm) we realised that we could see the farmhouse which normally we can't.

Took a shot with the camera & saw that the storm had felled a large tree .... it had actually broken the trunk ..... see Extra!


We then spotted another Kestrel .... this time being mobbed by Crows!

As we were heading back the dark clouds started gathering ...... it went very dark .... the wind started blowing a gale & it poured down! Luckily we managed to find a bit of shelter in the lee of a large evergreen hedge. Thankfully it only lasted about 15 minutes & then stopped so we managed the rest of the way home in the dry!
