Lino

I had time to notice the spacey reflections in the blue linoleum floor while waiting for my X-ray appointment. The hospital was Charing Cross, which isn’t actually anywhere near Charing Cross. Things like that really used to bamboozle me when I first moved to Britain. In my neighbourhood we have Acton Green which isn’t in Acton and Ealing Common which isn’t in Ealing. Chiswick Park Station isn’t near Chiswick Park and is often confused with Chiswick Station, which is. Etc.
D and I had a couple of good long talks today.
I’ve started ‘Emerson, Mind on Fire,’ by Robert Richardson, who wrote the wonderful book on Thoreau that we read recently.
