Quod oculus meus videt

Juvenile Greenfinches (Chloris chloris)

I worked today, so that I could have Thursday off to go for a walk in the Peak District.  As such my only opportunity for a photograph was at lunchtime and the camera to hand had the long lens on.

I initially thought these were juvenile goldfinches, but checking the RSPB Bird Identifier, I'm leaning more towards them being greenfinches.  The markings are similar, but after further visits to various sites on the internet, I have plumped for the greenfinch.  Certainly there were adults feeding from the same perch at other times this today.

Hopefully we can get out tomorrow to widen the choice of subject for my blip.
