Mist and frost on the meadows of the Golden Valley

It was quite a shock when I got up this morning to see bright light after all the rain we've been having. I used my little camera with its prime lens to record the first frost of the autumn.

I like the drifts of mist that are rising from the frosty slope in the middle ground. That slope is marked by an ancient 'way' across the valley heading down to ford the river and ascend to the far hillside and the Iron Age encampment that lies on its summit. The trees just behind the mist have their feet in the little stream that has descended steeply from the 'The Heavens' above it. The copse was named Oakey Grove according to the old maps. About two hundred yards upstream of Oakey Grove is the site of small Roman building next to the stream just below the waterfall. It would have had fantastic views westward down the valley and out across the Severn Vale, or possibly Sabrina Vale to them.
