Persimmon

This is one of rather a lot of wild persimmons growing on a number of persimmon trees both on our property and along our walk. This one is alongside the hayfield. Those drops are ICE! We had our first frost of the season last night. They say the persimmon isn't edible until "after the first frost" but I don't actually know if that has to do with the frost per se, or just means until late in the fall. They have to be very soft before you eat them, in any case.
