This holly was looking bright and glorious in the lovely autumn sunshine today. I thought it worth blipping because I’ve kept meaning to look up the info about why holly sometimes has smooth leaves and sometimes spiky. Apparently you look up ‘spinescence’ and the main theory is the plant grows spiky leaves when it gets damaged or attacked. Clever thing!
