Afternoon Tea

Last Christmas we were given a voucher by a friend for afternoon tea.  We have only just managed to use it today.  The delay is partly due to Covid and also because there were only a couple of venues in our area to use the voucher.  In order to have our tea today we travelled to Eggleston close to Barnard Castle which is about 34 miles from where we live.

The tea was absolutely beautiful - it comprised of chicken, egg and cheese sandwiches, tiny cheese tart, cheese scone, yorkshire pudding with beef, fruit scone with jam and cream, almond tart, chocolate cake, meringue with cream and strawberries and lemon possett with lavender.  It does sound a lot but most things were just a bit bigger bite size and we have brought some home with us for tomorrow.

The drive there and back was wonderful - beautiful autumn colours on the moors and in the trees.  A really lovely day.
