18mm

The rain came last night, more than was forecast and then a 3mm top up from this passing squall. As it passed the temperature dropped from 16 to 9c and is 5.6 at 22.10. I hope we don’t have a frost.

I took down an ivy encrusted fence today in foreground of photo . It was tedious and laborious, the ivy had completely encased and then some the old chestnut fence poles. As a desperate measure I used the Duster in 4wd to pull the poles and fencing out of the implacable ivy with mixed results. A mini digger would have done the job but access was tricky and I hadn’t thought that far forward (as per).

The 55th anniversary of the devastating 1966 flooding of Florence - the water was 5m high in Piazza Santa Croce and 33 people lost their lives. Hundreds or thousands of young people came from across Italy and the world to help with the massive cleanup. They are remembered as Gli angeli del fango - the angels of the mud.

I see Billy Booster is once more leaving skid marks across the fragile integrity of government and parliament.
