Doll’s house, Cromer walks and spaghetti

Well that just about sums up my day.
Esme is staying for a couple of days; she is so used to us and staying here now, and in a happy and enthusiastic mood today.
We had a rather late breakfast and got moving while the sun was still bright, for a walk by the sea at Cromer.
Half an hour was spent looking for crabs, throwing small stones into the shallows, beachcombing and other characteristic seaside activities and then we went for a stroll on the pier. Esme enjoyed the boldness of the herring gulls which swooped around us, no doubt speculatively hoping for a snack, which was not forthcoming - from us, at any rate. The light was brilliant, clear and sharp.
After a more or less obligatory bag of chips in Garden Street, we went in search of children’s wellies, having just discovered that Esme’s wellies had split and her feet were cold and wet.
Late afternoon Esme got out the doll’s house and we rearranged the furniture while drinking tea (hers 95% milk) and then she discovered a mouth organ - which she played pretty well for a three year old. I cooked spaghetti for supper with a simple sauce, which went down well.
Hanne Lene and I were both pretty exhausted by the time we got Esme into bed. I baked sourdough bread, using a new and different method and it has turned out very well - just tasted a slice - and now it’s time to flop on the sofa. Need an early bed soon, we will take Esme homecand then have a COP26 gathering/ demo/ show of feeling in Norwich tomorrow and there’s an interesting exhibition on too.
