An older bridge

I love an old bridge.

Having spent the last few days dashing around Ireland, we decided to do something local.  So we went for a walk around Doneraile Park.  It describes itself as a Wildlife Park, but the "Life" is some deer (apparently they have all three breeds currently found in Ireland - red, fallow and Sika - we just found what I believe are some red deer - see 1st extra) and some rare breed cattle.  All of these cannot really be classified as "Wild" as they are managed - the deer we found were securely fenced into a largish field.

More wild was the heron fishing standing by the weir (2nd extra), though even he seemed fairly tame, totally unfazed by the screaming kids in the nearby playground.

But it was a nice walk around the park, ending with a good view of Doneraile Court (3rd extra), which is not currently open to visitors.

Several people in various parts of the country have, on hearing that we are staying in Doneraile, asked us if we had yet eaten at Townhouse.  So today we did.  Quirky decor and lovely food - highly recommended.
